'CH-AIR' for Nike
CH–AIR’ for Nike. Designed for reflection.
Inspired by a pair of 1973–1976 Nike Marathon shoes made in Japan, CH–AIR explores reflection as both material and concept. Iconic early Nike references, including Carolyn Davidson's original logo mark and Jeff Johnson's pinwheel studies, are embedded within the mirrored surfaces, treating heritage not as nostalgia but as active material.
The work continues Joshua Space’s ongoing investigation into mirrors as spatial instruments. Referencing Shiro Kuramata’s Glass Chair, the study moves through material and perception, from glass to recycled plastic (The Recycled Chair, 2023), to air, using reflection to dissolve the object.
