MINI x Joshua Space
Joshua Space teamed up with MINI to investigate automotive materials and how they can be broken down and repurposed. The outcome was the creation of the Void Mirror Sculpture, made from recycled plastics.
When the partnership first arose, Joshua Space reflected on MINI's original designer, Alec Issigonis. Alec was briefed to redesign or reimagine the car during a time when the world was facing an oil crisis (the Suez Crisis of 1956).
This historical context is highly relevant to the current climate crisis, underlining the need for innovative thinking and action. This project's objective was to create a piece that reflects our habits of consumption while also highlighting the beauty of the environment we live in, and the need to protect it.
Our environment shapes us but we also shape our environment.
